why is it so funny to me that elrond wanted to send glorfindel, “one of the mightiest Elves of Middle-earth”, w/ the fellowship, but gandalf was like “no we need 2 more of frodo’s best friends” and everyone was like “ok”
my theory abt how this went down is that glorfindel, while escorting the hobbits & aragorn to rivendell, got a deep and undying respect for the strength of hobbits, as shown by 1. frodo not dying from that Mortal Wound and 2. three hobbits charging into battle with six whole terrifying ringwraiths when all theyve got is torches and samwise gamgee. like glorfindel probably was just like nah elrond theyve got this under control and also im a little bit terrified of them, which is Reasonable
