“One of the interesting things about Hopper’s story is that he lost a daughter, you know, and so I think in this character of Eleven, who at the end of the series, he gives her up, he kind of sells her out. And you know I have my own justifications for that but I think there’s a lot of guilt in there and it’s a young girl, who like would be his daughter’s age. His daughter died at 5 five years ago so I think that what you’ll see in season two is Hopper and Eleven searching for meaning. She’s searching for Papa, who she thought she had in this guy who manipulated her and used her and I’m looking for redemption in terms of a girl, my daughter, who I couldn’t save.” – David Harbour
